The Department of Pediatrics is headed by Dr. Sohail Azadi who is a board-certified Pediatrician, Medical Director of Avicenna Medical Center and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.

Dr. Azadi specializes in the medical care of the newborns, infants, toddlers, children, teenagers and adolescents.  His scope of practice includes, but is not limited to the following:


  • Newborn check-ups and examinations
  • Well-Baby Checks, Well-Child Checks, Adolescent and Sports Physicals
  • All required immunizations
  • Acute and Chronic Pediatric Disorders
  • Asthma, Allergies and Eczema
  • Pharyngitis and Respiratory Infections
  • Neurologic Disorders, Childhood Psychiatric Health
  • ADHD, ADD
  • Infant Circumcisions and minor surgical procedures

Dr. Azadi is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his residency training at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is married to Dr. Roya Azadi and has 2 children.


Dr. Azadi is assisted by Kathryn Sampson, PNP, who is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and has a great deal of experience in treatment and management of pediatric diseases.

Kathryn obtained her nursing degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and completed her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner training at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston with a Masters in Nursing. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
